Our Programs

The mission of the Brotallion Blue Skies Foundation is to
support the next-of-kin of fallen Army Aircrew.

Gold Star Financial Support

As a matter of practice, we step in and aid the affected families of a Class A (fatal) Army Aviation mishap. Each family is sent a $2,500 check.

In addition to immediately donating funds that have been raised through charitable donations and fundraising, the foundation’s sister company designs a t-shirt unique to each mishap that we support. 100% of the profits of these shirts are donated to the foundation and are then granted to the Gold Star families. These funds provide assistance with family travel, lodging, and incidentals.

Our support does not end there. The shirts remain available with all profits being donated to Foundation and granted to the families each month, indefinitely. It is our hope that the shirts honor our fallen brothers and sisters, keep them present in our hearts, and serve as a reminder that what we do serves a higher cause.

Education Assistance

In its 2020 report, Trends in College Pricing and Student Aid, the College Board reports that a moderate college budget for an in-state student attending a four-year public college in 2020-2021 averages $26,820 per year. The Blue Skies Foundation will provide financial assistance to the sons and daughters of fallen aircrew to help with the burden of tuition, room and board, and books and supplies.

The Blue Skies Endowment Fund is a Quasi-Endowment Fund (known as a “board-designated” endowment) that will be employed to achieve the Blue Skies Foundation’s educational support objectives for Gold Star families. The endowment is managed with consideration to guidelines established by the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA) and accounted for using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and guidance published by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), ASC Topic 958.

Legacy Preservation

Coming soon. The foundation will provide financial support for memorials and monuments across the country that honor our fallen brethren.
